You could asking for trouble, you don't know the condition of the casings or how well they were inspected at the cap shop. Some shops will cap any casing as long as it will hold air. If they are dry rotted you won't know it until it's too late.

If the casings are in good shape and were good quality to start with and its a reputible recapping outfit , keep the tires at the correct pressure RECAPS do a good job.

the gators on the road are caps not virgins. virgins don't blow. caps do. mostly in the summer with low tire pressure. a common problem when the temps in the south get well above 100. keep your tire pressure above 100 and you'll be allright. bad casings usually result in bubbles in the sidewall. old and week rubber.

the casings say a brand but the caps are made by whomever.

    virgin tires DON'T blow.

i've never had a virgin blow. but like the rest of us. recaps blow all the time. mainly becuase the tire pressure is not kept up.

i see guys run around with flat virgins all the time. they aren't blowing.

you won't get a cap to run that low on air. it'll blow first. unless it's winter time.

They are pretty outrageous right now aren't they? I've been checking my tire prices and its about $250/tire difference not counting the FET. Won't cap the china casings or the dunlop casings but the next drives and trailers will probably get capped. Drives 3 times trailers twice. And then repeat the process.

Really? My dad has personally blown a steer tire. That was a virgin and no it didn't go flat it blew out. Don't tell me virgins don't blow. As many of us know better. There is more than one thread on caps vs. Virgins I'd suggest reading a few of them and also reading up more on the subject.

I'm not going to deny that caps blow as well as I know they do but saying virgins don't is a false statement.

Just because you've never had a virgin tire blow doesn't mean it can't happen. I was at the terminal a few years ago talking to another O/O that was going on about this GREAT deal he'd got on some virgin tires the day before. They still had the nipples on them they were so new....but I noticed 2 of them were already different. He'd already had 2 of his BRAND NEW VIRGIN tires blow out on him.

virgin tires. one solid peice of rubber. they don't blow. unless they've been seriously abuse from improper care.

now, maybe if they've been ridding low in the first place. cause stress and cracks in the walls. now that i could see happening. and that would be driver error for not keeping up with pressure.

if they did blow. well, i'm pretty sure the govt would have a say in the matter. cuz, after all, they did outlaw caps on steers.
