This just in
So the Court just sent me a new document concerning the ticket I recieved for ice. After my company called to find out how much the ticket is for 39:4-77 (a ticket which does not apply to ice) they changed the complaint to 39:4-77.1 which does appy to ice.
The thing is 39:4-77.1 is issued if there is damage or injury occuring with the falling of ice or snow off a vehicle. I had no such occurance. I'm now forced to get an attorney because the minimum fine on this charge is $500-$1500!!!!
They changed the court date and charge just like that! It's going to cost me $400 for an attorney and it sounds like most likely they will want to plead me out which is not what I want to do but it will cost me more if the court plays games with me.
Keep an eye on this post for more information as I go!!!!
GRRRRRRR -
That's obscene.

Swing your rig by the courthouse. Ask the judge to climb on top with you to help clear ice.

I get this feeling that companies are going to start asking for "ice" fees on the bills if this keeps up. $115 every single time you stop is pretty much a whole paycheck by the end of the week, and I don't know if companies will want to keep shelling it out. Either that or all companies should outright boycott the Northeast. See how they like it while they slowly starve to death.

Now there is an idea... a ice surcharge...... ISC...

I just got a hold of the clerks office as this is a night court. The clerk told me that the Trooper cited me for 39:4-77.1. My ticket doesn't even say 39:4-77.1
It has the charge of 39:4-77 "loading so as to spill"
The trooper it seems has changed the ticket after the fact. The clerk is sending me a copy of his amended ticket that will not match my original copy.
Can't wait to see this altered ticket. This should put the brakes on the whole ticket all together I would think. -
Jim Klepper's firm will charge you $300.
