A friend of mine who took the class with me says the same thing. "Just pick one!!" It's such a tough choice. Knowing I'll be gone and miss out on things with my kids. I'm divorced and I have 50/50 custody. I've never missed anything with them. My girls tell me to just go and get the first year out of the way. So in essence it's just me that's having the issue. Got quite a few offers already after I get the first year done. Just got to get off my backside and make a choice. Thank you for the comment Patty.

I tried Maverick. Out of their range. My area is a tough one. That's what they all tell me anyway. I had applied for Averett. That one had awesome training pay and weekend home time. I'm just 12 miles out of their range. I about fell over when I heard that!! Now if I lived in Kalamazoo or Lansing or Grand Rapids or by Detroit I could have my pick of where I wanted to go.

Schneider? I'll have to check them out. I don't think I applied for them. Might as well due to the fact that I did my tanker endorsement. I was told by quite a few truckers to get my hazmat as well. That would make me more marketable in the future. Thank you to all for your responces. They are all very helpful

You may want to give these companies a call and ask if it would be advisable to move closer to a direct freight lane in Michigan. This could be your answer. If I recall correctly, Super Service is in Grand Rapids. This could also be another option for you. Very few OTR truck drivers live "next door" to their home office terminal. This may help you to get more home time, without having to drive any lengthy distances to get to your place of residence.

    Good luck to you!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

If you can get Schneider tanker school & stick with them for 12 months, then you could possibly get a local fuel hauler or other tanker job and spend more time with your children.

Prime also has tanker school, but don't know what would be available in your area; call and ask.

For this reason, i'd make the move if its possible. Averitt is a very good company with good standards. Out of the names you mentioned, Melton and Roehl would be my choices. If you can make the move, i'd look into Watkins Shepard. They have a terminal in Taylor Michigan. Good luck and keep us updated.

You live in the best area for expedite . Panther would put you solo in a straight truck right away . Full pay and no 4 to 6 weeks low pay with a trainer although teaming with an experienced driver to learn the best load zones , etc. is recommended . Don't knock a straight truck . Most expedite drivers run 3 or 4 weeks then take a full week off . That's better than 1 weekend every 4 to 6 weeks .

Are any of these Foodliner terminals near you? If so, apply & ignore the "experience required", might be your lucky day. Can apply online.

    Michigan • Battle Creek • Caro • Dowagiac • Kalamazoo • Quincy • Zeeland
