Falcon transport will hire anybody. I'm not sure if they are in your hiring area. Very low pay but it's experience.. I'm going to work for Stevens transport out of Dallas on June 9th, Lisa Mitchler is my recruiter 214-647-3999 give her a call and see if she can't help you.. Don't just throw in the towel..

I find this thread very informative. I am going to start driving school soon, and live in nothern Delaware. Any tips or suggestions would be very greatly appreciated.

Did you try Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas and Buel Inc.?
Also try Dynamic Transit, Apergis Transportation, National Carriers.

I don't understand why some company hasn't hired you.
One thing to try, for example if the company says you're not in a hiring area, tell them you will relocate, even if you have no plans to. Don't know if that would work or not. Do you have friends or relatives in another state that would let you use their address?

Many companies hire new CDL grads, even though their websites may say experience required. Ignore that and apply to as many companies as you're interested in. Your best pay will be with a tanker company such as Schneider-tanker division. Prime also hires new drivers for tanker division. As soon as you start school, start the applications. If you have a passport & TWIC, plus hazmat/tanker endorsements, you will have many more options. Start a list now of companies you plan to apply with to be better prepared.

A good flatbed 48 state carrier will also give you a very good income. There are several, such as Melton Truck Lines.

I have already done that. Funny thing is, I see these trucks running through my state, I call them or apply, and they tell me they don't run through my state. If they don't run through my state then why do I see their trucks on our highways? Sounds like a BS excuse to me. Why would companies ignore student applications? If the student wasn't interested in trucking then I don't think they would pay all that tuition money for the school. They aren't cheap!

It could be they have no current openings in terminals in those states . Why do they ignore student applications ? It could be they have 10 times more applications than they have job openings . Wannabes lack common sense . When the economy takes a dive and factories close and construction slows that means less freight is moving . Less freight means less drivers needed . Carriers haven't increased their fleet size in the past few years .

i don't mean to sound arrogant but I do have common sense. I was in the USAF for nearly 8 years and drove a lot of different stuff for them. None of which count because the military is DOT exempt. Sure I don't know know how to use Qualcomm but no trucker knew how to use it at one point in their career. I'm sure companies teach that.

Your experience could count if you had a military transport license . Some states will accept it as a CDL equivalent . The fact that military is DOT exempt has nothing to do with it . You need to avoid the large OTR starter companies . My cousin was in the USAF and spent several years on the Kadena fire crew . When he left the Air Force he got a civil service job as a fireman at Hanscom . Check with veteran sites like military.com . I have to see veterans exploited by these OTR starter companies .

I had a military driver's license but not transport. I drove a school and coach bus. I was a backup driver in case of wartime.

Maybe get a background report and see if there is something else causing the lack of interest. A lot of companies love military backgrounds. The following to close is a major violation though. It might take some time to lose some CSA points them you will haveibetter luck. I am surprised the school took you with out any prehires with that on your report. Maybe go back to them and see if they could help. Tell them you can't pay your loan without a job. Another thought is to look at getting on as a dock worker and transition to a driver position
