Okay, so it's easy at Western Express, but the scenario described in Rocknroller4's question can be problematic at other companies depending on their fuel policy. My last job was an LA-SLC dedicated that involved heavy loads back to CA, usually scrap cardboard. The circus of a company that I worked for had the following fueling policy: "no fuel in CA, ever." This usually posed no problem thanks to Primm, but the stupid policy occasionally transformed otherwise-legal loads into illegal ones (with enough fuel to make it back to NV).

The icing on the cake was the company's ridiculously high turnover rate at the Vegas terminal: 100% during just the 4 1/2 months I was there. They started hiring incompetent drivers who either didn't care, or didn't have a clue about, what they were dropping for someone else to take into CA.

    Rocknroller4 and otterinthewater Thank this.

    Agreed.

When it comes to weight I always use 6mpg = 6lbs.

So if I’m 180lbs over on my drives I know it’s 30gals. 180/6. With that in mind I have to drive 180 miles before I can hit a scale.

Of course it would be better to slide it out if you’re not over Gross if you can. When the math works I’m not willing to burn 1/2 a day getting reloaded and re-scaled.

Hey @Rocknroller4 shoot me a Message. I’ll give you my number and you can call and ask all the questions you want about WSXI.
