Recent truck school graduate needing some advice from Southern California.

I think Heartland requires a year of OTR and teams only.

 

It's possible they may merge, but still run the two as separate operations. Panther/ABF did it that way.

 

If you are near Bloomington CA TWT/SYSTEMS have a yard there. STT lives in Stockton CA and uses French Camp CA as his base. Although I don't know how they would provide it for a rookie STT was put on a plane.

6-8 weeks training after school at $500 weekly and $300 for orientation which starts on Mondays and can last all week. They provide transportation and hotel plus lunch. The hotel provides breakfast and transportation to and from the Spokane WA yard daily at 6 am and 5 pm.

Oh and they will help you get your TWIC card if you don't have it already.

 

Knight offers short runs and low pay, don't waste your time.

Schneider is a good outfit but pay peanuts especially to rookie drivers.

Gordon/Heartland nothing good about them. They get constant bad reviews on TTR.

U.S is a team focused company so if you want to drive solo I'd keep looking.

Navajo isn't half bad from what I read but honestly I do not know too much about them.

Look into KKW Trucking in Pomona they get lots of great reviews on here.

 

Keep looking; lots to choose from. Ignore "experience required" and apply anyway. Do the online apps with each company, then follow with a phone call tomorrow:
On your list, Navajo Express is OK, trucks have APU's, inverters, and good long runs coast to coast.

Some of these are excellent; some are just so-so, depending on what appeals to each individual. Submit lots of applications, then sort through the job offers. You will be rolling down the interstate soon.

 

Definitely apply with Saia, Reddaway, Old Dominion.
