Well, this is what you posted somewhere else in this forum:
."Well, he proved his ignorance anyway. YOU DO NOT USE RG8 COAX FOR COPHASED MOBILE SYSTEMS. You must use RG59 with an impedance of 72 ohms. Mini 8 has 50 ohms. You will jack your system up. Period. Nasty high SWR and common mode currents. Not nice for a new CB.
Sorry, I have to question your credentials after missing something so basic.
Coax length does not matter if the length you have is correctly matched to an antenna of the correct wavelength and tuned.
Coax doesn't matter period end of story, in single antenna systems."
.
.
My opinion is different from yours, at least some of the time, but I am allowed my opinion so get used to it. RG8 does have significantly less loss but ONLY when comparing an equal length of RG58. When I suggest 12 feet or less of RG58, there are specific reasons. 18 feet of RG8 gets a minuscule 0.12 % more signal to the antenna than 12 feet of RG58. That is no big deal. 12 feet of RG58 is half the cost of 18 feet of RG8. Both are readily available even in truckstops.
.
RG8 gets 78% of the signal to the antenna at 100 feet. Thus (100% - 78%) there is 22% loss of signal at 100 feet. Dividing by 100 (22%/100ft) is 0.22 % loss of signal per foot. At 18 feet (100-(18*0.22)) 96.04% of the signal gets to the antenna with a 3.96% loss of signal.
.In contrast, In contrast, RG58 gets 66% of the signal to the antenna at 100 feet. Thus (100% - 66%) there is 34% loss of signal at 100 feet. Dividing by 100 (34%/100ft) is 0.34 % loss of signal per foot. At 12 feet (100-(12*0.34)) 95.92% of the signal gets to the antenna with a 4.08% loss of signal. And that is a difference of only 0.12% of the signal getting to the antenna.
.
The choice of antenna is much more important than the coax when it comes to range. If you think that by changing your type of coax to an equal length of higher or lower performance coax is going to make a significant change in range, then it is you who does not have a clue.
.By any chance are you bipolar? Sheesh.
recommend a CB?

Actually, I am clinical manic-depressive (bi polar), as is my dad. Is that a ####### problem for you?

NOW you lost me .....
Are you talking cophased or a single antenna ?
For cophased you need 75 ohm coax feeding 52 cut for what ever frequency that your using a single antenna just needs 52 omh coax any length .... -
