I wonder what are the good ones. Its not something I see alot of but I think would be handy to have for the 29 I just bought.
I just hooked up the S300 with noise reduction only since my 29ltdbt has variable talkback of its own. I did order the cas600 black chrome cobra with noise reduction and talkback to compare and decide which I like best. Both are 15 watts and the S300 was 17 bucks while the cas black chrome is 28. I'll let you know next week which one I decide to keep.
I have the Skythumper in my slipseat box, and a Radio Shack in my regular assigned tractor. Both are very acceptable.
Thanks. I ended up getting the 20 watt model. My only beef is they come with a plastic bracket. I prefer metal. Oh well. Time to get creative with some flat stock.
These are in fact very good speakers,I bought 4 of them from Doug acouple years ago. The sound is very clear,cant be beat for the money
Just a thought -- whichever speaker you choose, see if you can find a way to mount it in the overhead, or the driver side B-pillar. The closer you can get the speaker to your ear(s), the lower you can have the radio's volume and still have the same SPL (sound pressure level) as perceived at your eardrum(s). Also, the closer it is, the fewer other cab sounds there are with which to compete. And you can probably lean more easily to the side if you need to hear better for a second, than leaning forward. -- Handlebar --
I use an Infinity tweeter for my external. Crystal clear over road noise and engine drone. Infinity is a great speaker. You can pick up a project enclosure at Radio Shack for around 5 bucks and mount it with hook and loop tape wherever you want it located. Mine is mounted just above the shoulder belt on the b pillar. Great for when others don't want to hear the CB during their nap time. I do have to tell you this before you use this setup ... Bozo's with full reverb come across as Alvin and the Chipmunks. No biggie. If others want to listen in we just go back to internal speaker mode or crank up the Infinity. I'm toying with the idea of a small amp for the Infinity, and adding a 5 band equalizer for filtering . I'd like to see what the equalizer could do to compensate for lower squelch settings with a high performance speaker.
