has nothing to do with tinfoil hats.

It has to do with respecting a person for what he is. That means an employer has to have credibility and responsibility as well.

If a prior employer is NOT willing to verify your information that YOU provided, it is not your responsibility at that point to do THEIR job.

People wonder why there is such poor respect in the world today. Because we ALLOW it.

I won't stand for it anymore. I have enough respect for myself that I am willing to speak up for and stick to my guns. If you can't respect yourself enough to stand up for yourself, why should anyone else.

And if that means telling someone "no" to an unreasonable request, then do it.

If we we don't, it will only get worse.

No its not.. but if its a case of getting hired or not..In some cases were there are few or one position and they have people vying for it and you're sitting there being all stealthy and "proud", another person is going to get hired while you sit there looking foolish. Properly verifying the fact that you worked somewhere without paystubs or W-2's is near impossible..and not something companies waste THEIR time on either.

Choose the hill you want to die on. If your prior company is being dickish, pulling an end run on them and doing "their" job proves that you are not allowing them to hold you back regardless of what they think. It is a DOT requirement that YOU provide a ten year work history.. if you cannot or will not, then the company cannot hire you.. enjoy that lofty perch..

The state DID ask for access to peoples Facebook account. I found it incredible that people willingly gave into it.

More and more businesses ARE hiring HR people to scrounge around social media just for that reason. To use it against you at work. No promotions, termination etc.

How would you feel if you had images of employees going to a conference and barring it up and getting toasted. Posting company name and comments on bar mirrors and then posting them on social media websites?

I list on a sheet of paper where I worked. I complied with the law.

It is NOT part of the law that I provide personal data that will not be safe-guarded by a company.

    Why capitulate to unreasonable demands?

Its not an unreasonable demand.. its a request to get a driver hired.. he (like you) can refuse and stay unemployed.. no sweat off their nose.. I don't hire people who cannot provide work history and have told applicants that if they can provide W-2's for companies that are not cooperating then they can be approved.. with out it, they have no proof and have not met the criteria.. if they want to play games, I'm on to the next applicant who can provide proof of work history and put them to work.. I don't have time to play games with half-wits and it would be proof enough to me that they'd be problems later anyway with some other issue.. so toss their app in the round file and hire someone who's not a waste of time.

Good to know that. It would be a waste of my time to apply to a company such as yours.

I do not have time for a company that has no respect for a persons private life.

A resume' listing 10 years of employment IS complying with the law.

You are then making the law more restrictive on your own. I choose NOT to deal with people like that.

That's helpful in screening employers too. Some of us know that you can be hired without this hassle. I have two prev employers that were out of business and I was never asked for a w2. Glad there's enough people willing to do that for you though.

    mje and cetanediesel Thank this.
