Wow... with that attitude you are going to get eaten alive in the military. Take it from someone who survived 25 years.

I can admit when I’m wrong. They must have been hurting for recruits to feed the grinder and changed the system again. Still assuming you are #### hot and make E9 in 20, 40% is $2400 a month before taxes.

I have been driving for almost 2 years and I almost make that every two weeks and all I have to do now is hold a steering wheel.

Fair Winds and Following Seas. I hope you are one of the 17% that make it to 20 years.

They are still recruiting harder then ever at my company. Turning it into a revolving door of sorts. The days of loyalty going both directions are few left. That’s why as a driver you have to keep it all business. Let them step on you and they will. Guaranteed!

    650cat425 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

And how much do you get for rations, uniforms and housing, what do pay for health care, how much paid vacation do you get? I'm not saying the Army is a good deal but, tell the whole story.

    Coffey and 650cat425 Thank this.

Lest see rations you only get while on leave, otherwise you eat in the galley.
Leave is 2.5 days a month.
Health care is free but it took them 6 months to fix a crown and I have an ulcer from all the Motrin I got for my broken joints.
Uniform allowance is around $1000 a year but that is about the cost of one dress uniform.
Housing is variable dependent on your rank. You only get that if you live off base and most apartments charge the entire amount.

Before you all start becoming Sea lawyers you might want to look at how many enlisted military are on food stamps.

    Coffey and 650cat425 Thank this.

I didn’t say it was a better deal, you can’t tell just half of the story so it fits your narrative.

You add it all up and your not doing so good, 2400 a month plus a SS and a 401k doesn’t make your 2400 every 2 weeks working 70 hours a week and sleeping in truck look so good.

    650cat425 Thanks this.

This sounds nice. How would you get in a position to do something like this?
