I work 4, 12 hour days then I have 3 days off. I sleep on my bed at my house every night.

70 hours in the military is a short week. Sleeping in a tent with 19 other guys or in berthing with 300 others made me think sleeping in a truck by myself was the best thing ever. Soooo much freedom. I didn’t have to ask to take a dump anymore.

Perspective is in the eye of the beholder.

they fought in Vietnam as well.
i was on the cutter morgenthau in 80 thru 82.
she has an award plaque on the bridge for her service.
she was built in 72 just in time to serve.
I did a search recently and on one of the sites a guy who was on her during that time say a Vietnam diver had put explosives on the screws and when it went off the blew out of water.
what I just found out the u.s. sold her to Vietnam early this year

Numb, Chinatown and p608 Thank this.

    Old system.
    E9 with 30, $7706 * 75% = $5779 a month
but that makes them 48 at the earliest when they get out.
My example was for 20 years which is doable but from digging less than .5% of the people that enlist make E9 by 20.
Tricare has premiums and copays now unless you go to a military medical facility. I went to mountain Home AFB once and sat there for 12 hours waiting to see someone and was told to come back the next day. I said screw it went to a civilian DR spent $250 in copay and was seen in minutes.
Retiree Tricare is no better than free Medicare.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
