If pay were the driving factor I doubt many drivers would go back to them after leaving, but they do.
It isn't just about cents per mile, but that seems to be driving force that entices drivers to leave in the first place.
I have pretty good control over my life out here on the road.
No forced dispatch, no one dogging me about my hours or how I run my loads. I do things my own way.
Swift only has one bonus, which is paid quarterly and based on performance. Some other places base it on fuel mileage so you have to drive at 60 to get it. Clogging up the road making everyone go around you. Thanks Prime.
The incentives are not so much explicit as they are implicit.
And I would not trade my 50-58 cpm (depends which division I'm running) for 5 or 10 more, when my working conditions might be much worse.
Baseline money does not entice me.
The right working conditions do, far more. -
I'm currently in AIT to drive for the Army. Once I graduate here, I'll head to my first duty stationSeeJayneRun, D.Tibbitt and Chinatown Thank this.

Those drivers with years or decades of experience aren’t interested in training most likely.DoubleO7 Thanks this.

I just don't think Swift has any drivers with that much experience

I have 23 years.

What a bigoted viewpoint. Are you that way with other aspects in society as well?
-
I see more poor and unsafe driving from all the Billy Big Riggers than I ever do from Swift. Excessive speeding, speeding in work zones and tailgating those who aren't, still going 70 when the road is covered in snow and ice, tailgating in general, unsafe lane changes. Those are the trucks I usually see wadded up in wrecks and the ones I worry about being around me. Not Swift.Last edited: Jun 13, 2020
Reason for edit: Add infoDoubleO7 Thanks this. -
Why would you think that! Swift has one of the lowest pay scals in the industry. WHY would a driver with experience stay there?
-
Wow!! Well I stand corrected! Why have you stayed? Especially since you can make more money somewhere else. Are you a trainer?
