Get a paper copy of exactly what you get paid for and how.

I pretty much asked those questions when I called CR England got hung up on. Called Swift got sum lame answers stayed on phone bout 10 mins. Called CRST and heard a bunch of BS not answering my questions stayed on phone bout 15 mins then I called CFI and recruiter answered the questions and sum and was on the phone with them for over an hr then called back and she answered all my questions didn't rush me or push me off and so I signed up for school to them. They have pet policy 1 pet per driver which is goin to work for us since we got 2 cats that are like family

Do not allow a company to take perdiem even if they "Paid you" a little "More" now or saved in so called taxes.

Remember that every dollar of what you are paid in your entire working life to Social Security is carefully added up, quarter by quarter in every year of your adult life. IT WILL AFFECT your benefits in the future in a negative way. potentially by a large sum.

Ive learned to not deal with recruiters generally. If I want to know something, I'll talk to the driver at the truckstop. Ive gotten much more in 10 minutes with a driver than any recruiter will give me in a hour of evasive answering.

I hate to pick on the recruiters so much. Most newbies have no idea how much they are considered fresh meat and bodies to stick in the tractor. Sweet words turn to BS and nausea at the stomach when you are somewhere waiting 30 hours to get a dock.

Exactly. Mileage pay seems to be the magic two words "drivers" seem to gloss over. If the truck isn't making money, neither is the operator. It's a shame how many steering wheel holders out there that don't get this simple fact. This isn't an hourly job. They should be seeking local work for such an arrangement.

Really? You don't get any kind of detention? You only get what you make per mile? Interesting.

I'm an independent owner operator and I get paid by the run unless it's for detention. Period. If I had decided to hire a driver he would also get paid the same way only on a percentage. Yeah, real interesting. It's fascinating stuff. Go get a local job maybe you'll be happy then.

This thread doesn't concern you or apply to your situation. Why don't you move along.

Ha! Yes and I bet you eat tuna from a can while sitting at a dock for endless hours for free.
