Atlanta is 1,000 feet above sea level. Its going to start raining Monday night and continue all day Tuesday. It will be windy on Tuesday. I recommend every driver within 100 miles of Atlanta steal their equipment and head to Denver to get above the storm surge; I'm delivering there Monday night and it'll be easier for me to find parking.

I think I heard Al Gore imply just recently that the sea shore would reach Atlanta in "a few years" so keep that in mind. At least stay on the higher western areas of Fulton county if you're going to be there a while.

"We talked to some people willing to ride out the storm. We don't know why they would choose to risk their life, and told them that 911 would not be coming to save them if they got in trouble. We've seen some people walking in the street, they are in danger and need to seek shelter immediately."

It's not just storm surge you have to worry about with landfalling hurricanes. You also have to worry about the possibilities of tornadoes being spun off by the storm.
