The other morning I was driving through a town, it was very early around 3 or 4, I was coming up to a light and slowed down, because it was green for a long time, but not too much, because no one was around. I'm about 15 ft away and some one pulls up to the intersection and bam! the light turns red by the time I hit the stop bar. Then.....I see a flash!
Any way my question is......does anyone know if they just get a picture of the license plate?
I'm in a new truck and didn't have plate on yet. I've never had this happen even in my personal vehicle.

It's just sent to the name on the tag. Really not a moving violation its civil but it can get messy if not paid.

Those cameras take photos of tags. If you had no tag on it or a temp tag it might get tossed out.

I've got one before it will take a picture of the whole back of the trailer or it did mine.if you have a company name and trailer # on the back they will send it to that company. It will be up to the company if they want to track down who was pulling the trailer at time picture was taken

It happened to me in Virginia Beach before I lost my drivers license. I had a dealer tag. I saw the flash but never got anything in the mail. I then asked someone how that worked and he told me.

    Red-Light Safety Cameras

    • The system activates when motion is detected just prior to the designated stop bar AFTER the traffic signal has turned red. The stop bar is the point where the intersection technically begins, often designated by a thick white line. When motion is detected, the Red-Light Safety Camera captures two images of an alleged violation, taken from the rear of the vehicle.
    • The first image shows the violating vehicle in front of the designated stop bar and the illuminated red light, demonstrating that the vehicle had not entered the intersection before the light changed.
    • The second image shows the violator in the middle of the intersection with the red light illuminated, providing further evidence of the red-light violation.
    • A close-up of the violating vehicle’s license plate obtained from one of these two high-resolution images is used to verify the vehicle’s owner as well as additional evidence.
    • The system also records multiple violation data, including the time, date and durations of the yellow and red lights.
    • The camera also records a 12-second digital video of the violation that includes six seconds prior to and six seconds after the violating vehicle runs the red light.
    • For states that require identification of the driver, an image of the front of the vehicle, displaying the driver’s face, is captured as well.
Trained law enforcement officials must review and approve all potential red-light running violations before citations can be issued. These officials closely examine the images, video and violation data to determine whether a violation did in

I actually saw the flash it was in front of me but off to my right as I was in the intersection. If they took a picture from behind they could find me easily, and they would.
