Most yellow lights last about 5 seconds. You are not stopping a fully loaded truck from 55-60 mph in 5 seconds. -
FullMetalJacket, My-Ke and Highway_Executive Thank this.

To put it in perspective, I'm from the east coast. I was going down a curvy hill and the traffic light sign was midway through the down hill. I was already in 8th gear going around 20 under the limit with at least 43,000 in my trailer. Light turned red when I was about 70 feet from it still going down a curved downgrade. I feared if I slammed my brakes I would jackknife the trailer. Any thoughts???

I have faced this dilemma. If I'm in a town on a highway with a relatively high speed and stop lights, my odds of running lights greatly increase. The wisdom says to slow down on stale green lights but you're also impeeding traffic this way if you're going half the speed limit. There have also been times where if I didn't slow down, I'd have made the light but instead im sitting at the intersection because I did. I also don't want to trigger the Qualcomm with a hard brake event either.
Still not sure how to approach it. -
