Since you mention fully paid health benefits and a family on the way as a draw to you, just know that this past week or two the company was within days of the union employees losing their health insurance benefits because the company hasn't been paying their end of the bargain since Spring due to WuFlu.

Its impossible for us to say what hours you'll actually run. Until you have an actual bid, you'll live by the phone, end even then... you can have a bid and it still may get cut on a semi consistent basis. There are so many variables that none of us short of working there or having run through there could give you with any level of certainty.

If you need consistency in paychecks, the beginning part of your time at a LTL outfit, much less a union one, will not delivery what you are looking for (for the most part). If you can roll with the punches for a year or two with reddaway, you should be alright, hopefully there are some aging guys on their line board that are set to retire soon.

And to add on to what @McUzi said, I would do your research on the LTL companies in your area and decide which one is the best, then wait for a position to open and apply for it. Take everything you can get from Reddaway for now, but I would not want be working there in four years when the government comes calling for their $700 million loan to be repaid.

    Texas_hwy_287 and McUzi Thank this.
