I don’t know what brand it is, Trex, timber tech, whatever. It’s composite and it’s only nail strips between aluminum.

    cke Thanks this.

So you're using $5 a foot composite decking for nail strips?

    Why?

I can get kiln dried white oak for around $2 per board foot. Apitong will run you about $7 per board foot. So Apitong cost 3 times as much as white oak.

Now I'm not saying the extra cost isn't worth it, because apitong is better, but my personal feeling is that apitong isn't worth that much more than white oak.

Also, just for comparison, the price TNSquire quoted for green white oak is $1 per board foot. 6-7 times less than apitong.

$2.25/ft. I couldn’t get oak in time and it was very expensive. This works. I’m happy with it so far and I don’t have to treat it every year like wood. Other than the additional weight, I don’t see any issues with it.

Plus, it was quick, cheap and got me back on the road earning money. Isn’t that the important part?
