Hi, I have my Class A with all endorsements. I've been driving for over 20 yrs. I started in the 90s driving semi before they had 102x 53ft vans. Then I went into construction driving Class B trucks for 14 yrs. I have an interview with Waste Management for roll off driver. I really want to get back to driving semi again but they want me to take a refresher course. Should I stick with the Waste Management as a career move or take a refresher course and go over the road for a year? What good company offers a refresher course? YRC recently expressed interest and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If OTR is what you want, then go ahead and look at doing the training company thing.

If local is what you want, keep putting in apps. Someone will hire you. Agriculture trucking companies are good for getting back into tractor/trailer. With your experience, they will hire you and a lot of the work is temporary. So the temp job doesn't look bad on your resume when you are just using them for a few months experience.

    The YRC thing sounds promising.

Thanks I'll look into those agriculture driving jobs, I'm hoping for local jobs right now. I'll hang for YRC a little longer.
