I unloaded 20 pallets of sacked potatoes in 20 minutes and made $120.The only reason I did it because there were no lumpers

Usually we have dispatch put enough advance ballance on the company account attached to your Comdata card to cover the bill. You write and authorize a comcheck, and get a receipt from the lumper service. You turn in the receipt on your trip report - the advance to your comdata card appears as a debit, and you are reimbursed for it on your next settlement.

wow, sounds like a major pain in the ### to do it like that. I think I woyld just as soon doi it myself if i can.
Oh that reminds me. i once went to a company sponsored job fair when a former employer was about to close the plant where i was. there was a "lumper manger guy" (i guess you would call him that) at this job fair and he really tried to make it look like a good job to have. He told me about how i would get paid for like a percentage of the amount of the load and per piece unloaded and a whole buch of other confusing gobbledygoop. I told him i need a job and not a joke. #@%!!! now im rambling again. ok thank you for the elaboration. -
One short Qualcomm message.
Write one check.
One phone call - no more difficult than checking your bank ballance on the phone.
Write the amount on your trip sheet.
Remember to fill in the lumper boxes on your departure message.
Don't loose the receipt, and scan it in.
Ya know, if that's as much "pain in the ###" as you get during the course of a day in trucking, you've had a pretty successful day. It can get a lot worse. Fast.
Maybe you ought to do a reality check before going any further. This isn't "BJ and the Bear." -
K i guess its a thing i just have to learn to do.

Getting the comchecks done for the lumper is one of the easiest things about the job. Hurting your back unloading the trailer? That can end your career in a split second.

You can almost always pay cash., if you have it on you. Saves you the $1.00 transaction fee, which seems small 'til you multiply it by 3 times a week. Of course, that may be cheaper than an ATM fee!
