Refused my first load today

School of hard knocks that's where I'm a honor student. We used to use shake outs all the time until we got nailed at an AEP power plant and the safety guy explained it sternly and showed me the regulation. When I was doing my CCO refresher the guy who taught it was on the NCCO national board and was one of those guys who's IQ was off the charts, he and another guy in the class had an argument about it and he showed us the regulation then to.

 

Any chance you can post a picture of this the next time you do it? I'm fairly certain I don't understand what your doing. Every way I picture "weaving" the 2" strap through multiple bundles, it leaves a loose strap! 'Course sometimes there's a big difference between what I picture, and reality!

 

Why bulkhead dry iron? Greasy bars ,yes. Hot roll, no. It does not move.

 

The stuff i got out of EMJ in chicago was always greasier than McDonalds.

 

I would, but I don't go down there anymore. I pretty much only haul coils now.

But here's how it works. Start the first strap over the outside bundle, under the next, then over the next and so on until you have reached the other side of the trailer. Set ratchet and tighten.

Then grab the second strap, and directly behind the first strap go UNDER the first bundle, then over the next and so on and tighten.

The idea is to provide both over and under contact between straps and product. This both "chokes" the load to prevent forward movement and keeps the bundles properly separately during transit.

40 rebar. Spaced out loading as you can see. They'll be pushing it together or using vertical blocking next time or I'll be refusing my fist load!
