Only for the drivers that work for carriers they let get away with that .
But those drivers know the problem will be fixed because they pay OOIDA $45 a year to watch out for them .

I loaded at a shipper once that had let my dispatcher figure out the load. Well when all was said and done i weighed on the shippers scale and weighed out at over 85,000. So the shipper said put it back in the dock, and they called mr dipwad dispatcher and told him his figure was way off and now they the shipper had to fix the problem. So they figured out where the pallets were that were over which were in the front of the trailer, took them off reloaded and everything was fine. and due to me sitting there all that time, the shipper which made the twice baked potatoes, and mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, gave me a case of good to take home with me for being patient and understanding, and not gettiing mad and being a jerk. I told the guy that what good does it do to be that way, and i know it wasnt their fault. The shipper said from then on the dispatcher was not going to pick the loads from then on that they were going to do it as they were tired of the dispatchers goof ups at the shipper.

First when I was pulling a refer I would always fuel tractor and trailer before I weighed (tare). Then go load. I also knew how much I could load and depending on the net where it had to be in the trailer. If there was a problem I would let dispatch know, keep my mouth shut and let the shipped load it. Then when it was over I would return so they could pull off the extra and bill the company for the time with explanation attached. Worked part of the time but not always. They did get where I wasn't questioned, but listen to on loading.

I haul a lot of paper out of Sweetwater in Austell Ga, they are known for sending guys out with 45000lbs but there is a scale a mile up the road that is only about 4000 off.......last week their scale showed me at 78 and change, no big deal, made it up to the pilot on 285 and certified the weight........82,565(still have the scale ticket) had to go back and drop a roll (they werent happy)

Took one too cross round I-20 bout when someone runnin hot and heavy on a lazagne load chickened on the last scale before Georgia. I gotta a few bucks on a repower, and a fat load after, so close to the coupe I had a look at it for johnny hammer few minites before I crossed it with a heavy repowerd load. You should have seen this guy when I picked the load up from him, he was spent and buggin.

i work on a dock with forklifts that have scales.....most shipments weigh more then what the bill says, shippers claim it weighs less then it really does to save money
