With the CSA points system it is in the companies best interest to NOT have violations if they want to stay in business and continue to be able to haul loads. Perhaps you need to approach them from this angle.

That's one of them, our way or the highway companies.
Go to this link and file an online complaint. When they are done with them, they will be compliant.

or call 1-888-DOT SAFT (368-7238 ) between 9am and 7pm est.

Like numbers said, a company can't fire you for refusing to disregard DOT regulations.
That is handled by OSHA if they terminate you. Then you hire an employment law attorney.
With your CSA2010 record and livelyhood on the line, protect your own interest.
What will happen is probably DOT will show up and do a surprise audit/inspection and your name will be kept quiet. The company will think it's just a surprise inspection.
Then most likely they will straighten up.Red Hot Mess Thanks this. -
A company can not fire you for refusing to take loads especially where safety is an issue. But that company will make your time with them miserable which ultimately will force you to quit.Companies don't care about their drivers or their CDLS because it's not their CDL at stake so why care.Stick to your guns and do not let any company try and force you to do anything.I don't care about trucking companies like I use to.It's ALL ABOUT ME NOT THEM.Red Hot Mess Thanks this.

First off what i forgot to write is COMMON SENSE.. If you see that its illegal or dangerous or not safe... DONT DO IT...Plain and Simple..
Red Hot Mess and ewill71 Thank this. -
Carriers coercing drivers to run illegal is nothing new in the truckin biz.
It's been going on for decades.
It's one of those things that never change in the industry.
Make sure you document the incident from here to Sunday in case they fire you.
You then have evidence to use in a potential wrongfull termination lawsuit.
I know a guy who sued his employer for this type of scenario and won $250k.
He was also approved to collect unemployment without penalty.
I'd rather go that route than pay big fines to the DOT for taking an illegal load.Red Hot Mess Thanks this. -
I knew a guy, who knew a guy, who knew a girl, who knew a guy, who took a illegal load and nothing happened...Just thought i'd put that out there...LOL

Congratulations, you may now go crawl back into your cave.

its your responsibility no matter what. Most of the drivers that posted on here all agree if its not safe dont do it, if they fire you in this day and age use a phone for video and camera and take pictures of everything. And file complaints and talk to a lawyer, you will be alright if you do this. It will definitely be bad is something would go wrong on the road. let someone else be stupid.

Lawyers call this a "constructive discharge." Check with an attorney in your area, it's probably illegal in your state.Red Hot Mess Thanks this.
