Fatboy07:
If you get a ticket, or worse, if a mechanical failure causes injury or death to a motorist or pedestrian, your company will blame it on you. "The driver should've done a better pre-trip. The driver should've done a better job of securing the load. The driver knew that load was overweight / truck wasn't safe, but he ran it anyway." Then they'll fire you (legal or not) and put someone else's butt in that same seat.
Don't set yourself up for that. Find a better company to work for, ASAP.

I love how everyone is calling for him to turn the company in or quit without any details on what he claims are illegal activities.

"Beyond the scope of the permit" is a bit vague for me, especially without knowing what the permit actually says.d o g Thanks this. -
Just rember too carry a fat wallett full of money and take any load you want, no matter if illlegal or not , your gonna pay the fine anyway and after three strikes or so , your gonna lose your cdl and job anyway

If you are going to take an illegal load get the dispatcher and/or operations manager
to sign the manisfest before you leave.
That way if you do get popped by the DOT they will be fined as much, if not more,
than you will be.fatboy07 Thanks this. -
Call the U.S. Marshal - that'll fix 'em.
fatboy07 Thanks this. -
how is that vague. if the permit dont cover it it is illegal. I dont think there is any give on going over what the permits state. and most of us drivers have sais " its the drivers responsibility" so if someone wants to run a load overweight height length or width thats on them not the company. Gotta protect your license and not be stupid. -
What gets me is the OP's profile says he has 25 years of trucking experience.
By NOW he should already know how to deal with his situation if he doesn't, I have no idea how he made it 25 years in this industry.d o g Thanks this. -
the size varies, and I have hauled some loads that werent that much over. I have had my share of dealings with DOT officers and have found you dont know what kind of day the guys is having, if its bad for him it may be bad for you. Also the vast majority of my loads are in inter- city traffic. And this is an ongoing issue Ive been dealing with it for around 5 yrs. Thanksj for your input.

I have blanket permits for Mo. and Ks. the Ks. permits me to be pretty wide without needing to get a single use permit. But the Mo. permit says I am only legal to 12ft 4 inches. After that a new permit and an escort are required. The first time I told the boss this he threw a tantrum and refused. I could write a book on this sort of thing but up till now ive tried to roll with the punches. A week ago I was suspended from work on trumped up charges and now I have to get a lawyer involved. Theres alot more to the story besides what ive revealed. Thanks for your input
