Sounds like the tires are legal so what are you crying about ? I'd get new tires before winter but I'd defiantly be searching for the best deal on tires . And no prime isn't going to sell you a used set of tires unless that's what you request ( some ppl do because they believe they getter better mileage on some slightly used tires) I'd run my load to Texas then request a load going through the yard for some new tires if your that worried about them

Looks like gravel road thrash, or your braking too hard on loose surfaces.

I chopped one of my drives up a bit while bobtail. Light changed and I could feel some lost traction stopping for the light.

Maybe, he's definitely been hard on them, but they are legal and have plenty left to get back to his terminal. He could run to TX and back several times on those.

Where does prime get the idea that they can tell a l/o when and where to buy tires? If he has the money he should be able to purchase the tires at his discretion.

If "crying" is because maybe he doesn't feel safe with the tires he has, then there is a lot of us drivers out here who "cry" as well. Its his prerogative if he want to get new tires, not some desk jockey working the night shift, or another driver.

I don't agree with them telling him he can't get tires ! But why would you not want to save upwards of 600+ dollars on tires by running through the yard and yes primes prices are ussually 100 or more cheaper per tire than the deals you will find on the road!! Oh and the tires are legal so why refuse to drive on them?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that side wall damage and leaks were not up to par with dot. The load to Texas is oversized so no bypassing scales plus it's brake week. The tread is legal on them yes but 3 of 4 drives leaking air at a steady pace is not very safe to drive on in my opinion. im not worried about saving money at the moment. If I was paying cash maybe but these tires are coming from money that has been taken out of my check that I can not use for anything else other than tires. Why can't I buy tires when I see that mine are unsafe? There's plenty of money in there to pay for a full set plus.

And just a little info primes tire fund is .02 cents per mile so you have to drive 250,000 plus miles on a set of tires before your even close to having enough to cover a full set of tires , and that's if you haven't had any blowouts or repairs ( wich also come out of that tire fund) so chances are he doesn't have enough money in the tire fund to cover a set of tires anyway wich means prime will front him the money and his tire account will show a negative balance until it's paid back up at .02 cents a mile so yes prime does have a little bit of say in the matter!!! Op how much is in your tire account?

Just wondering why Prime would stop or prevent you from getting your vehicle road worthy it helps better road safety Do you actually need permission to change your tyres? I'd just go and do it anyway, after all your primarily responsible for the road worthiness of your truck

The indicators tell you when it's down to 4/32, which is absolute minimum for steer tires. That gives you 2/32 more for drives and trailer. Always measure from the bottom of the groove.
