I haven't been out to NYC for about a year now. Delivery in Manhattan. Took a lot of planning and coming in at 3 AM but I got in and out without too much drama. Not entirely sure is the extra $100 was worth it or not. But whatever a loads a load.

I just delivered a load in Brooklyn Terminal Market and took an 8 hour break on the street. With a hood dragging a 53'. Nothing too terrible. You guys can just leave those NYC loads be, let us locals handle 'em. Keeps me closer to the house, and keeps you out of areas you're uncomfortable with. Everybody wins
One of these days I'll get up the nerve to try the no toll escape route in the big truck, too.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I like the premium that NYC and LI commands, but if that ever went away, it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. I worked for a Northeast regional grocery carrier that paid .20 less per mile go to NYC or LI versus Elizabeth or Carteret, or heaven forbid C&S in Woodbridge. They paid the NYC tolls but there was no $$$ incentive to go, so I didn't. Instead, I spent almost every week night at White Rose.
It's all about the money for me.
My best NYC story:
I delivered to Eastern LI and reloaded a few stops like usual, the first being a Franks Nursery on Staten Island. After delivering , I felt something odd as I was pulling out. A bowling ball was stuck between a set of duals on my trailer. The fact that the local high school just let out was not lost on me. It was stuck good. Without deflating a tire, it wasn't going anywhere, I didn't have a hose to we inflate it the time. My mcguyver self tried ratcheting a 2" strap around it which didn't work, so I tied the strap through a slider hole and moved the truck forward until the dang thing popped out. I had quite an audience at that point. No camera phones back then though!!
Then there was the time when I slept on the cross Bronx for 8 hours above the Deegan when CR England had a corrosive haz mat leak at the entrance to the upper deck. Fun times.Ruthless, 48Packard, ‘Olhand and 1 other person Thank this. -
Is this guy serious? I used to run multi-stop loads into the boroughs at least once per week when I drove otr. I begged for them. This dude wants a law against it..lol.. I pull sets into Brooklyn when I can but I normally don't get the run. What a joke - stay down in Sparta with yins dude.. And don't leave it.. Next thing you know we'll have another law on the books because of this guy. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are 10 times worse in a truck than NY. Maybe he'll get a Pittsburgh multi-stop starting in the north hills that finals out in the south hills.. That takes skill and knowhow on top of patience. That's why I couldn't do it..

These guys hear all the "trucker tales" about NYC. It's usually the same recycled BS that the "steering wheel holders union of the south" or the Midwest likes to tell. You know a real trucker when you see one. There are a lot of southern boys that love the hell out of NYC for that big payday and that good food, and never seem to have a problem with going to the boroughs. Those NYC horror stories are the same kind of BS that the stories of the Federal Marshalls are, the same with the lot locard who cleans up in the dirty puddle, etc. Steering wheel holders that would never cross the GWB because they're scared. Lol. Fine. Get out of the way and let the real drivers through. We will be counting our money while you tell stories at the Petro and whining that your company doesn't run you. Learn how to work kid!!!! It's all about the $$$$$$$!
