Really??? Downtown Pittsburgh??? You've gotta try it sometimes. Brooklyn is a walk in the park compared to Pittsburgh.

Your kidding? Chicago just had some right turns and low bridges. Other than that it really isn't all that bad. Pittsburgh. Please.

I have delivered in downtown Pittsburgh and I still don't see how NYC is easier to do.

We're all different. Each with our strengths and weaknesses. Every one of us has a different comfort zone. Different upbringing and experiences.
I refuse to run NYC, indeed, I refuse to run anywhere east of the I75 corridor and north of the NC - Va state line. Not because it frightens me, but, frankly, and I mean no disrespect, it disgusts me. To many stupid laws, to many people, to many hills, to many cities, The entire population is rude and unfriendly, the businesses are disrespectful to truckers, the Leos are rude and disrespectful. The roads and streets are mostly straight out of the 19th century.
I admit I have anxiety issues with urban areas, I'm not ashamed of that, I know the cause of that malady, I came by it honorably and it's a disability I bear with pride. I was born and raised on a farm in the Midwest, entered the Army right out of high school. I met myself there, I proved myself in the Army. I am not a coward, I am not broken. And I have learned, through experience that the northeast to me is behind enemy lines. I place I never want to be again.
Money isn't everything, peace of mind factors into the equation also. I hate ALL cities, large and small, The only advantage to the smaller cities is that I can get into and out of without having to get a logbook violation doing it. I will not take a break somewhere I don't feel safe, and I don't feel safe in ANY city.
So to all of you who think that just because I refuse to run NYC I am not a "REAL TRUCKER", you can have it, your opinion means nothing to me. I've spent my time in hell, I have no need to prove anything to anyone. You can run NYC and choke on it.

Ya downtown Pittsburgh is challenging.Don't think I would have ever found the place I was picking up if it hadn't been for that customer on his way to work.He seen me parked and looking confused. So I followed him.How ironic is that.

So what ever happened duck? Did you do it? Or'd they have to call a fresh-out-of-school swiftie or CRE , etc driver to do a NYC run for an 11 year driver? :-D

It'd be wonderful if more people thought this way. Right now I can't charge a HUGE premium to go to the city: just a healthy one. If only one in 100 truckers were willing to go there I could jack the rate up. It would be nice. Right now I can get $530-$840 to run the 100 or so miles into NYC depending on the customer/freight/volume of loads. Be nice to see an even $1000 or more for each :)
