When is the last time you replaced a doser nozzle and cleaned out the port? When they get gummed up the first symptom is driving regens begin failing with low regen temp code being set. The parked regen light will come on and since parked regens happen at higher RPM's they tend to succeed, at least for a while. Have you plugged it into the DDDL software to see if any codes are there? Only active ones show up in your dash display, while someare just information only and never show as active.

A rule of thumb is when you pass a caribou and it falls over dead instantly, its time to change the DPF filter. Will you please get it swapped before the tree huggers lambast you for causing global warming single handedly.

Brettj3876, whoopNride and 86scotty Thank this.

No it's a 2014 Volvo with the volvo motor. It might be time to bake the filter or have it checked out.
It usually regens going down the road. Actually im assuming it does, because I have to fill the def tank every couple weeks.
Possibly it wants parked regen more often. Because now doing long haul, truck is running all day then idling all night.
As opposed to my usual short haul. Where truck is off most of the day while I work. Then off all night. Cause I'm in a room. I'll start watching the soot level guage.
If I keep this up gonna have to change my name to logistics man.

Could be DPF filter , but most of the time the sensor located on venturi pipe pipe gets clogged/bad connection . If you get a fault code showing that your exhaust temperature is too low i would check the 7th injector, or... the air activated relay valve on the left side under fuel filter ; this valve is sensitive to air leaks. I drove close to 2 million miles (team), in my 2 x780s with D13 since june "07,(1.833 in first, and 150k in thissecond used) normally does a regen every every 2-2.500 miles and lasts 20-25 min, and never asked for parked regen, unless something was bad. Be careful could derate, i got towed a couple of times, until i learn the trick to remove speed sensor from transmission. Hopefully doesn't burn oil, this motors with DPF don't work when the motor starts burning oil, ends up in DPF. I blew a turbo bearing before Christmass, and drove 90 miles bob, with zero boost, i lost less than a gallon through turbo bearing, but the oil cloged my DPF filter, had to put new one. This emission systems have certain capacity to optimally process exhaust fumes, faster you go more flow/ back pressure soot on DPF. I noticed that driving slower , 60 max 65 mph i have way less emission problems, has time to auto clean and D13 gets over 8 mpg, even with 40k lbs in the box.

So, the engine could still have hidden faults, detectable with Vcad diagnosis tool only, on top of dash display?
My 780/2010 shows both on dash , has two separate sub folders in diagnosis display ,one for active the other for inactive codes.

In the case of a Volvo I haven't a clue. For some reason I thought he had a Detroit.

Disagree. I have a 2016 Freightliner EVO 345,xxx on it. Baked at 278,xxx I do idle all the time. Mine will do a parked regen while sleeping no issues automatically. I can hear it while I’m driving do it’s thing. I’ve had to park and press the button about once a month. It does it thing from 8 to 30 minutes and she is fine. I’ve talked to Stewart Stevenson Aka Detroit Diesel dealer for 100 years. They say as long as it comes out of the regen it’s fine. NO matter what if it pops up while driving pull over and force it. If it flashes red you have big issues. I run in high altitude and really hot areas. My rig has never missed a day of work yet. Sure we had to go in but always an easy fix. I way over maintenance her.
