Yesterday I had to do a regen. The first 2 times it wouldn't go. Then tried the red valve in and 3rd time was the trick.

    The question.
If the red valve needs to be in.
How do you perform a regen if there's no trailer hooked up?

Or is that just another of the few electrical quirks the truck has?

The only way to get it kicked on is to shut the truck down for 5 minutes.

Coincidence most likely. Trailer brake valve should have no connection In the ability for the truck to complete a stationary regen.

Tractor park released might keep it from running one.

Or you could buy a set of Glad Hands and the appropriate threaded plugs and make a Dummy Trailer, if it won't regen without pushing in the red knob.

My 389 will do a passive or parked regen anytime it wants. I could be rolling down the road with a parked regen message on the dash and as soon as I put the clutch in it starts.

I can disable it until a more convenient time with the dash switch. Never did it require me to set brakes, all I have to do is depress the clutch.

It’s a real pia when I’m just starting my shift and it wants to do its thing. Release the brakes, put the clutch in and it starts.

Mine does it whenever, but I hit the button on the dash when I get somewhere so it can keep cooking while I’m loading or unloading.

When I drove a 2019 the only time it wouldn’t regen is when it was extremely cold. What I had to do was hold rpm at 1200 or so for about 5 minutes then I could start regen . It was a paccar automatic also.

Tried that the first time I had to regen.

This one won't do it without 5 minute shutdown first.

Might have something to do with the engine light always staying on.

Truck has electrical glitches. Some of it went away when the people box was pulled out. More went away when the batteries were replaced. Engine light and regen not working properly are about the only glitches left.

Kw always shuts it off and it always comes back on by end of day.
