What I get is .46 cents a mile and get paid drop and hooks and if I have to wait at the main bakery here in Lewiston me I get it paid detention after a half hour I get about 2200 miles a week right now plus the drop and hook pay. And sometimes I unload doing the regional I will never unload I get paid for all the miles I drive. and my wife stays home with kids and she just wants me to be happy. When I was at Budweiser and Sysco it was all crazy shifts this just seems like I’ll be able to do more with the kids since I would be home for three whole days in a row seems like it will be more of a set routine for the next right now I go everywhere vermont conn ri mass

Will you be sleeping in the truck on the other 4 days?FlaSwampRat and michaelj123xx Thank this.
-
Yes never drove a sleeper before but the company is going to be getting some brand new sleepers for this position. It’s 4 days on 3 days off and I can do 5 if I want to. I slip seat right now
FlaSwampRat and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
I've been drivng for over 20 years; put my time in OTR and now I drive intrastate. Not really 'local' but not regional, either. I've got an assigned daycab that I actually bring home on occasion....nice truck, Mack Pinnacle. I love my job but i put in many years to get this. Off weekends, drive nights, home daily. Paid holidays (like Monday) is nice too.
Personally, were I you, I'd go for it. If MY company had a set up like that, I'd probably do it for the extra day off. When I 'am' home daily, I mostly sleep...wife takes care of the house and chores (unless it's something she can't fix) with the help of our youngest, who's 15.
Let us (me) know what happens; I'd go for it. Might take a while getting used to the 'longer' wheelbase, but you'll get it. Are you pulling pups (28's?) or 53's now in the daycab? I pull all 53's..... its what we run. I'll try to find a pic.x1Heavy, FlaSwampRat and michaelj123xx Thank this. -
I been pulling 53 ft dry van the last 3 to 4 years when I was at Sysco and Budweiser they weir smaller. Sounds like you are like me my daughter is 4 right now and my son is two when I first got my lisences I didn’t want to go Otr or regional because my wife was pregnant so I got my experience buy lugging kegs and beer. But now I have a lot of experience and he offered me this position I gues he is just waiting for the ok from the upper management because it is a new run but I trust what he says on home time it’s been a very good company and it’s only 5 miles from my house

The proximity to home is great, isn't it? It looks like you are leaning towards this position. I sure would. Wishing you the best; if you have any questions when you get the sleeper, let me know. IMHO it's a blessing of an offer. (Taking only a ten at home each day, all week, isn't really quality time....that extra day would be priceless, and the scenery of going different places, breathtaking.)michaelj123xx Thanks this.
