Whats the best option to go with? I'm not opposed to being on the road a few days at a time but I do have a 13 year daughter and a son starting VA Tech next year so I would like to be around as often as I can so which option gives me the best home time option?

generally, regional will get you home for your 34 reset (sometimes a little longer) once a week. Ive seen some dedicated that are the same as this and some that get you home more sometimes every night. Dedicated really depends on a lot of factors, where you live, what account your on and what deliveries it entails, etc.
FLYMIKEXL Thanks this. -
Yea I'm looking into that now Id love to get some southern states like NC VA SC FL I'm growing tired of the up north weather
-
you're going to live there? cause normally regional will only be out of the region you live in.
-
Yea I'm moving back to Virginia sometime this year

oh then yeah good decision. Southeast is great driving. a few companies off my head that do southeast are CT(comcar),cypress truck lines, averitt is mainly southeast but does go a little out of it. a few companies that do 48 have a southeast regional program also.FLYMIKEXL Thanks this.

Look into Houff Transfer in Weyers Cave.

Depends on what dedicated route you have. Some guys work 3-4 days a week every week doing certain things. Just need to get moved back home and see what's available.

I'm looking into Averitt they have some jobs available in my Hometown also looking into Western Express too tho I've heard some bad things about them
-
Averitt is what I chose too i have my orientation on feb 7th. They have a MUCH better reputation than western express. another good point that you might not understand yet because you haven't started (i worked for a mega for a few months, couldn't do the teaming so i looked for something solo) but truck stops especially at night are really dark usually and crowded and hard to find parking, with averitt they have ALOT of service centers so like 4/5 times you park for the night youll be able to plan in a stop at a service center and not have to deal with the bs. automatic trucks. APUs and inverters in all trucks. could transfer to dedicated if a spot opens, same with local. the only complaint i see people saying about them is some people don't get many miles, but then again i see others saying they get 2500-3000 a week so i guess it depends.Gods child and FLYMIKEXL Thank this.
