Where were they when cited? State? Scale? Side of road? Pulling out of shipper?

i'll try & get info. it is drivers from another terminal, but it is not a c.b. story. it is true. I verified this when I spoke to the head guy in safety earlier. I brought it up to see if was just hearsay, no he confirmed it was ongoing fight to get the charges thrown out. I wanted to know before I picked trailer up what kind of tie downs I need. it may wind up being that one officer & not an enforcement type gauntlet on us truckers.

    Klleetrucking and taxihacker66 Thank this.

Have any of you heard that the chains as of jan are supposed to all be marked the grade on them or they are in violation? Something about the hook and then so many links in?

Yes, but I thought that went into effect years ago. I bought new chains back in 08 and they were marked on the hook and links.

Yes but something about the cheap chain from like china is just a good 70 grade marked hook put on cheap chain so theyr trying to put stop to that. But our company hadn't said anything about it. A securement teacher was one said rules changed as of jan this year.

Tie downs have been required to be marked for a long time, if they're not marked the are considered the lowest possible rating.

Could be. A lot of securement devices are from China. I can't find a winch strap not made in China.
The grade markings on the links can be hard to find and not every link is marked...every 2nd or 3rd link if I remember right. Either way I haven't heard of a securement failure do to poor materials. Not saying it hasn't happened but I'd say it is rare. Inspect your securement devices for damage and over secure and you should be fine.
