I knew a woman who was the same way-intelligent but could not converse with others. So everyone thought she was weird. Maybe nationality? Anyhow, as mentioned by others, there are plenty of companies who hire trainees and students. Most mega carriers are self-insured which rely on insurance companies who dictate who they can and cannot hire. The whole trucking industry has turned into a scam. As I posted recently-a company was going to hire me, but when they found an absolutey clean record on me with over 4 years verifiable (13 years in actuality) they simply said they could not hire me and never explaiend why? Why? because they are looking for 6 mo. to a year experience so they could set me at 32 cents instead of the 39 they would have to pay me. TOTAL TRANSPORTATION out of Jackson is another company who plays this game of looking for drivers with 3 months to a year to keep pay down.

On this note, companies now say they only go back 10 years, (USA Truck) anything more than that they don't count. Just another scam to keep rates down. Today companies want new drivers so they can mold them into slaves (as someone else mentioned) and not speak-up like drivers did in years past. With so many people entering the trucking industry and so many new trucking graduates-why try to retain old drivers who expect more pay and better treatment? If you are new to this game, you will see how they all claim to be the best-but in reality-most are run-of-the-mill and care nothing about drivers.

    BigBluePeter and pete1 Thank this.

werner is pretty strict on who they recruit, as far as training otr companies go i would rank them on the high end of the spectrum..they pride themselves on being debt free..

Really ?!?! Are you serious?!? If you got a pulse you got a job waiting for you at Werner! What the hell is their turnover rate these days, something like 105%. Yea a bif 22 cents per mile, their like homeless people with trucks.

I called Werner a few weeks ago they told me I would get .27 cpm starting and told me I would make 37,000 a year. I feel sorry for any one that falls for that :(

I was at werner about 7 yrs ago i was with them about 1.5 yrs...it wasnt bad, i dont remember the payrate...it wasnt the highest or the lowest.. i remember avg'ing around 600 net per week as a solo driver, but i moved to training and i was netting 1400/wk (2k+ paychecks).. not my cup of tea though, being run as a team with a trainee is beyond rough. as far as otr training companies go there isnt a perfect company, i cant think of one otr company that is actively recruiting 24/7 that youre going to agree is good..why? because they arent that great.. but as far as otr carriers go they are pretty good.
