Hold on a second. Werner said you should start out as an Occupational Therapist with them?

i'm jsut stating what i've noticed on here. i've been trying to get some info on a situation i'm going through and on average 50% of the comments are helpful the rest just want to kick a man while he's down. Several people are attacking this person saying "are you sure it wasn't something you did" i'm just trying to give a man some hope is all. The fact of the matter is we do live in a judgmental society, obviously i'm guilty of it to.

I understand what you're saying. My post may have sounded like I was kicking him when he's down and many post gets missinterpeted.I'm just trying to understand exactly what the op is saying and what exactly happened during orientation.Don't think hes been back to explain.

My kid has some of the same issues as yours does; he hates to be touched and he has an aversion to to certain fabrics. He is sociable around people he has become comfortable with but he won't talk to or acknowledge strangers.
He has gotten a lot better as he has gotten older with regard to his social skills.
Perhaps the op would be better off in an environment where he is around the same people every day and has a set schedule, such as an ltl company doing line- haul work or dedicated deliveries.
    Just a thought.

And that is the thing with Aspergers. Each person IS different, my son will talk to anyone, he just doesn't have the correct social skills for his own peer group, which BTW showed up more in school than it does now ( he's in the Army).

Actually that IS a good thought, routine is a very good thing for some ppl with Aspergers and dealing with the same ppl on a regular basis could be the best thing for him. But again that is depending on how severe his case is. My son has no problems dealing with different ppl everyday...as long as they don't touch him.

Which BTW lead me to some rather strange dealings with ppl when he was young. I couldn't "carry" him, so stroller or carry car-seat, when he could walk..leash on the back of his over-alls. I got alot of comments about him not being a dog, but even I couldn't hold his hand for long w/o him throwing a fit.

From what I am seeing....it is illegal not to disclose Asbergers when getting a License/CDL....so, the information will be on the "Restrictions" of your CDL.

p.s.- Sorry if this has been covered....I only read the first few pages of this thread.

WoW A.S..Really- There is no ONE other than you I would rather receive a talking to/from.:biggrin_2556: Direct, kinda to the point and definitely entertaining too..:biggrin_25525:

Anywho a few pages back I was wondering what the O.P. meant by his appearance being a hindrance concerning his desire to be a Truck Driver and received no response. I too am one of the "ignorant ones" concerning this condition, and never heard of it till reading his thread..

Now it's true the more "I know" the more bummed out I become (which explains) why I am usually happy- but after giving this a little thought:biggrin_2556: here in BEAUTIFUL downtown Yermo,CA I would not concern myself with outward appearance too much O.P.- I can send to you many pics of my Professional "peers" to prove my point.. "Hey..Is the carnival in town or what"?

Mr. O.P. don't give up..If you want it-you will get it. Good Luck.:biggrin_25519:

I see no regulation quoted on this article and reliability of "e-How contributors " is questionable . I see no reason for a driver to disclose it on the driver's section of the physical form . http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/safetyprograms/Medical-Report.pdf However , a physician might note it here .

Just sit down at a computer if you can, google truck driving jobs, and apply to many companies with just one click! Werner DID do you a favor! They have a terrible reputation out there and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Even if you have to start at SWIFT, it's a start and you should at least try to last 6 months to a year with them then you can move on! Big G Express out of Nashville is a pretty good starter company as well as Covenant and US Xpress.

    Good Luck! Don't give up!!
