The time constraints aren't really that bad. The places I stop at either have a forklift or a pallet jack, so you technically can get a trailer unloaded within 10 minutes. There is a lot of demand involved, but the pay and bennies make it worth it. So we don't derail the thread any further, if you want to send me a PM I'll give you some more details about where I work.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I have to respectfully disagree....fully aware of your years of experience vs mine. People learn at different rates and varying degrees.

I have personally come across those in need of help struggling with things not only related to backing, but use of the QC, scaling loads, sliding tandems, using the Transflo, CSA regs and God knows what else.

Training should not be measured in time, but to standard. And almost always, the response to most of the examples above was pretty much the same whenever I asked "Didn't your trainer show you how to do this?" Granted, trainers and their abilities vary to quite a bit - from the competent and caring to the dollar grabbers and block checkers.

With all that is left that is not taught in CDL institutions, 3 days to me is no where near enough to go through the infinite number of scenarios a driver will face once on their own.

Just mi dos centavos and change.

I don't think every scenario can be taught in a reasonable amount of time. People have to learn to think and react on their own.
