There's plenty of them in Canada and northern part of states. Used for logging and other off road uses where traction is needed.

Disagree.
Go down to your local terminal...and you'll see all the funky trailer setups for tractors because they don't have a pusher or tag axle installed. Granted I'm not talking strictly about HH, but drop axles give more options.Juggernaut85 Thanks this. -
It's still no where common and logging and off road work isn't necessarily what I think of when I think heavy haul.
-
Moving mining equipment is a big deal up north. Man how I wish I could own a 6900XD!
-
Tridrives out in western Canada are about as common as tandems.
Dye Guardian, noluck, DDlighttruck and 2 others Thank this. -
Is that the OP"s plan? He didn't say that.
-
Not sure. But it's an idea if he's doing off road towing. I'm not sure the OP is solid on anything--just kicking around the idea.
-
Absolutely and non existent in much of America as I said. The big heavy haul outfits I've been around. Diamond, Miller, J Supor, Emmert, Barnhart, and mote all run tandems or tandems with pushers. I'm not saying they don't have their place but its a specialized piece of equipment that is not necessary or practical for what I thought we were talking about.Dye Guardian, MJ1657, SAR and 4 others Thank this.
-
I'd go ahead and get one of these,
