Thanks for the clarification...I was a kid when I drove it so I was just guessing on how it worked...The trailer had air brakes and the tractor had hyd. cylinders at each wheel and a mechanical hand brake.
Glad I aint drivin' it now! -
I drove a 51 KW bullnose with a 165 and a 5X3 for the same old guy that had the weird International and also a 55 Pete with a big Hall Scott that ran on Natural gas. -
So....what were truckstops like back when trucks ran on gas? Were they just glorified gas stations with a taller fuel island and a restaurant if you were lucky, or what?
-
my truck has something. it has a buzzer that goes off when you turn the key, and it has an interlock that keeps you from cranking the engine until that buzzer is almost off.. In the winter it won't start easy if you jump the gun and start it while the buzzer is on..

Much better..Full service, Good food....No Swift,Prime,TMC,JB Hunt or Centeral Refrigerated trucks.
Yes.
No tourists and not too many 4 wheelers and the newbie drivers knew where they stood in the pecking order...
At the bottom! -
Probably a 2007 or newer engine. They have very high fuel rail pressure and you have to wait for it to pressurize. The Challenger Thanks this.
-
Heh. But reefers were sooo loud back then.
Heh. I still cant for the life of me understand why tourists hang out there. I remember a while back i was at a HUGE ta and was in the restaurant and this chick was talking real loud on her phone.."Yeah im at this little gas station and they have a little restaurant! blah blah" ....
why the hell wouldnt you go somewhere with better food for the same price...IE Pretty much everywhere besides a "gas station".
Its a 2008 and yeah, i noticed that the older freightliners didnt have an interlock on them. Maybe this is why it loses prime so easily and often needs a can of ether to start it....hehehe. I think it still has a bad fuel line. -
Oh yes, Glow Plugs, Compression Releases and Shutter Stats. We used a D battery to keep it open in the summertime. Did you know that the first sleepers where in the nose of the trailers?
Imagine that ride! -
I know what the rest is but whats the shutter stat? dont bash me either please im not an idiot im just younger and want to know.
