I also wish to mention that large parts of our Interstate System was replaced entirely during my life time too.
I 81 wilkes barre and scranton come to mind of the mountains in that area whole sections of I-81 was stripped to absolutely bare dirt and a brand new interstate built.
They removed two mountains from there, one was a wide sweeping curve northbound in which you had to be careful lest the tilt of the pavement will cause you and the whole eig to run off facing a 1000_ Foot drop into a valley that will most certainaly reduce you to tiny pieces.
That mountain almost killed me twice during construction. The last time, the right front steer hung over empty space as I wrestled with the steering at that moment. Then she came back on.
Even today terror runs through me when Im here typing . I wont be here today if she did not get it back.
Remember when?

We were able to hunt down all 4 tapes of Lonesome Dove which was a good western. Took oh about 15000 miles and a few months to find em all. We are getting ready to transfer them to DVD. They stopped production of VCR's forever last month I think it was either a Nata or Naka factory that will stop.
VCR is dead long live the VCR. -

Figures.
Buckhorns were pretty pricey I thought they were. There were a couple that did a good job, but it was pricey. -
I actually stopped at the old Buzzy's on Rt 1 bypass northbound in Portsmouth recently to see what's happening. They're re-conditioning the place some. It was sold to some local oil company (not Irving either,) so it's going to stay somewhat the same, as Buzzy stated that in the sales contract according to the gal in the little to-go grill next door to the fuel desk.
I like New England Truck Stop in Sturbridge, Mass. Antiquated, old, dirty, but still hanging in there, lol.
Flynn's on 20 in Shrewsbury, Mass. is my go-to stop when I need somewhere to stay for the night in that neck of the woods. Squeaky clean showers still manned by people that keep them spotless, there's food and a diner across the road when you're there during business hours. Not much else for choices around there.
Mass 10...hahahaha. I remember those Overdrive Magazine centerfold ads, a blank two page ad with a splattered dead fly pictured on one of the pages. Now it's a strip mall or something.
How about Secondi's West in Danbury, Ct. on I-84 on the NY line? Had craters in the lot that you could lose a truck in, the diner always smelled like raw sewage, but the food was #### good once you got acclimated to the odor. Now that's a strip mall too. Secondi's (or "Wheels",) is still going strong in Milford, Ct. exit 40 on I-95.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
