I think Dwight Yoakum does this song very well. I really like to hear John Anderson sing "Black Sheep"it's a good trucking song too.

Sawyer Brown did a remake of this classic, but it was Dave Dudley that made it famous.. Great song.

now here is another one for you. i remember my first truck with a sleeper on it , i thoughid died and went to heaven, can you imagine going up mt eagel it was two lane back then, the truck got so hot we took a throttle stick and forced the foot feed to the floor and got out on the running board so we could stay cool and steered thrue the windown, it was slow and hot but it was sure , the old two stick tri plex never failed and it would run like hell going down the hill , fond memeorys southernpride

When I first started OTR, I was taught this by one of the old guys in the group. Worked great on the stuff I drove back that didn't have Cruise Control, which was 90% of everything I drove for that company.

We brought alot of buses back to FL, the only benefit was you could run with the side door open and it was almost like air conditioning. The one thing that sucked was getting passed by Swift trucks on a regular basis.:biggrin_2556:

Somewhere along the line I was told to bring back an older Marmon from up in Iowa. I enjoyed that ride, it stuck out like a sore thumb in the parking lots, but I didn't care.

My grandfather would tell me stories of driving in the late teens and 20's, they had hand throttles they could set. He said Pittsburgh to Johnstown was a day and a half trip (about and hour and a half today!) and on the big hills he would stand on the running board or walk along beside and reach up to steer!

Sorry, but I was still in elementary school when Dave Dudley made that song famous. When I started driving, I listened to truckin' music that rocked!

Turn your speakers up, click on the link, and see if you remember flyin' down the highway singin' along to this...

The time's real short, you know the distance is long,
I'd like to have a jet but it's not in the song.
Climb back in the cab, cross your fingers for luck,
We gotta keep movin' if we're going to make a buck.

    Let it roll...
