Wow! That is an amazing story.

So, anyways, i haven't been driving that long compared to some of you but i think some key differences are:

    1) Back then FLD's and Ford Aeromaxes were in abundance. The aero trucks at the time were the FLD, the KW T-600 had been out for a while, maybe the pete 372 and 358(378?) could be considered aero. And the first edition of the Century(or columbia) had just come out and i think KLLM was one of the first companies to use it.

    2) Air ride was just starting to come on in abundance (even though it's been around since the 50's?). Now practically every truck has it.
i had only been driving for maybe a yr to a yr and 1/2 and the transition from leafsprings to air springs took a little getting used to----because i wasn't really used to either one. As opposed to someone who had been driving on leafsprings for a while?

    3) i had three speeding tickets on my MVR and yet could still get hired pretty much anywhere i applied. AND, this was with little to no experience. Trying doing that now.

    4) Miles up the $%#. So many miles, you couldn't legally log them. The sad part is i did not take advantage of this---i didn't really want that many miles back then. Nowadays, that's all i care about. So, that's one thing i would want to trade back to the "old days."

    5) i was averaging $450-$650 gross per week back then which i thought was hot S.
