Just a future reference for any up coming drivers is always best to go with the option of learning to drive a manual road ranger gear box this will eliminate any future issues when it comes to applying for a job that requires manual gear box experience. Your best off going back and paying for some lessons with a driving school tell them your situation and see if they'll let you hire their truck to practice for a set fee.King Vortex Thanks this.

my first truck was a b61 mack with twin stick and no power steering. when power steering came out, they said,only real trucks drove with no power steering!

I have the opposite problem. My company trained and tested me in a manual transmission then threw me in an auto truck.

Take it in a 6 speed synchronized. You’ll get your restriction lifted at least. It’s the same as a car.
