replacing brake chamber - issue

    I still have the old junk chamber. I guess the spring is broken because there are parts rattling around inside of it if you shake it. I have to grease everything tomorrow I'll take a close look at everything again. I hear what you guys are saying about the broken spring not allowing the push rod to extend all the way out but I don't believe that is the case here so maybe I dodged a bullet there. Like I said it appears no different than the other slacks and rods when depressing and releasing the clutch.

    As far as taking apart the spring chamber that isn't even possible with the cans I have. The band around them is sealed there is no clamp bolt. I believe that was designed and adopted by all maufacturers because of people getting injured or killed years ago opening up the wrong half. I wasn't really sure of what to do when just replacing the piggy back anyway. I am now after this thread but everything I was reading before just suggested replacing the whole chamber if you're not really sure.
