Buying a better mic is never a waste of money. If you upgrade the radio, you can always keep the mic. Just save the stock one. I've got a converted Shure, noise cancelling mic, that cost about $150 (don't remember exactly) by the time I bought it and had it modified. It works just as good on my Cobra 25 as it does my Mirage 9900.

Ougigoug, rabbiporkchop and Bighig Thank this.

Don't buy a RK 56 "UNLESS" you buy the older one's. The new one's are junk cause "BARJUNK" own's the right's now and as alway's THEY cut on quality. I have 2 original Turner 56's and will NEVER let them go.

You are correct, but it is very hard to find one than isn't made by Barjam. And they are still better than stock. The switches don't last very well though.

Hey, if you look at it from the outside, we all do goofy things with them. We're suppose to right? It's in the rules. Never apply logic, or reasoning if you wanna have fun..

Aren't the stock mics used for Cobra 19 and 25 the same? I thought Cobra didn't use a better mic until the 29.

What's wrong with running a $300 microphone on a $30 radio? I think it's a lot better to do that than to do the opposite running a $30 microphone on a $300 radio. My Electric Voice 602T sounds awesome on a cheap radio.
