Quick one....
What generally has the better resale value, mid-roof or condo? I'm trying to decide what to buy. I will be trying to sell it around 600K miles. I'm buying new. The down payment is the same, ($12k), but the condo will cost me a bit more, but not much. I run a mid-roof now and have no problem with it, although more space is always nice. But for $250 more a week, I don't know if I need the space that much, unless it will help me on the back end when it comes time to sell. Thanks!

Alot will depend on the make and style of truck to along with its spec's. In my area flattop's bring the most used then midroof's 2nd the last condo's.

$250/week $1000/month 12000/year $60000/ 5 years
how could you get your value out of a condo? -
basically my thoughts. 20k of that is probably interest, and I'm only looking at financing for 4 years, but Sri your point is my thoughts as well. Looking for about 5 years service before I sell.

Well, it has been my experience that flattops, and midroofs will get you the most bucks at resale. A lot of seasonal agriculture use for them. Somewhat difficult to take a condo under a grain chute in most places. Frankly, except for teams, I have not ever seen the need to even buy a condo to begin with. They are harder to cool in the summer, heat in the winter. And overall, just a lot of wasted space. Unless you are a pro basketball player, virtually all midroofs will have the space and storage anyone would need, and it is easier to sell when that time comes. Just have an air dam on top for aerodynamics (unless you are doing skateboards). It can be easily removed by the next buyer.
If you spec the cabinets and such in the interior of a midroof sleeper right, you can actually have more storage than a typical condo with two bunks in it. I have full cabinet top and mid cabinet low, behind passenger seat, midway cabinet behind drivers seat with built in refrigerator freezer below that, and airline style overhead cabinets all the way around the sides and back of the interior. I have slide out desks for both sides which have extra storage in them for paperwork, laptop, etc.
No way a condo is worth an extra $250 a week. You need to bank that for maintenance and other things.Last edited: Oct 23, 2012

Same opinion here....Condo no good for tanker work either. Get a mid or a flat top with 12'6" pipes ( OR 12's ) so you don't cut out any potential buyers......
Also, IMO you're selling it too late on the hub side. To maximize profit in this market you'll do much better offering the truck in the high 4's to low 5's on the hub. Value drops big time as you approach 600k.
JMO..... good luckskyviper73 Thanks this. -
Resale value? Why worry about resale value? Do you have extra money burning a hole in your pocket? Buy the truck. Run it until the wheels fall off. Rebuild it. Run it until the wheels fall off, again. Rebuild it again. Run it until the wheels fall off, again. Sell to a scrap yard and retire. You'll be way ahead, in the long run.
Cowpie1 and skyviper73 Thank this. -
There's NO WAY a condo bunk costs that much more>check your numbers or your sales guys numbers as something is way off.skyviper73 Thanks this.
