I'm a real truck driver. I got this gold belt buckle to prove it. It's 6x9. These spurs I wear help me keep my carpet clean.

Last time I looked it was $12 to park, waived if you bought $20 of stuff in the store or restaraunt.

Personally, I'd rather spend the extra $8 and have $20 worth of stuff than drop $12 just to park.
It's really not a bad deal, considering the parking situation in that area.
A DVD and a good meal covers it nicely.

The reserved spots are a very good idea, especially if you are out of hours or know where you will be when you shut down.
I seldom see trucks using them, so it's a good bet that one will be available if you just have to get a spot then and there.

the real fact is a few years back there were actually more pay to park truckstops, and the ones that exist now are basically spend 20 bucks, buy some fuel its free. I don't think the world will come crashing down.

and is some areas its not a gamble at all if there will be a space, Baytown,tx t/a and the t/a at exit 7 on I-78 in nj, just an example of 2 that are no gamble whatsoever.

and no if ya pay for a space you don't pay again, with what you see left behind in parkings lots its a wonder they all don't charge to park.

Can't remember which TA I was at..just know it was 2am no parking to be found so I called the number...which promtly gave me an automated voice came on telling me nobody was available. So I assume I was supposed to go inside and pay at the desk..but as I was about to do that somebody pulled out so I got lucky

so while I could care less if people pay for a spot or not .... You can miss me with that poor truckstop speach. Remember when you used to get a free coffee for a fill up? Or remember when you used to drive all day to get to the seafood buffet at the Petro in Little Rock, or the buffet at the Giant in New Mexico, because they were unique? Now everthing is cookie cutter and prices have gone out of this world...I was forced to stay out a couple of weeks ago and I ran out of bodywash in the truck $6.38 for a bottle of Irish Spring that cost $3.00 at Target ... Ever want to stop eatin junk and get some fresh fruit from the Loves? 2 for $5.00 ... Same amount at Kroger cost you about $1.35 ... My point is if TS wanted to be more convient and cost effective for drivers/travelers they could...prices go up and quality goes down.... The exact same showers that used to be $7.00 are now $13...So as regulations fill the TS up before the sun goes down why not make even more $$$$.... Most people who utilize microwaves, and refrigerators, and coffee pots do so because they can't afford to patronize the TS

I call BS on all of you saying that drivers do not go inside and make purchases. If you look inside 90% of the clientele are truck drivers that are purchasing one thing or another be it something as small as a pack of gum or larger like a cb or inverter.

The preferred parking is not used to offset anything. They're simply an experiment right now. If a significant profit is made then you can expect to see alot more of them.
