Depends on your company. I sat in traffic for 4.5 hours yesterday because of a fatality accident that had the interstate shut down and got paid $75 just to browse Facebook the whole time.

No reset pay at Abilene. Never heard of it before this thread.

I always get paid for my resets. I get along with the planner and dispatcher really well though.

    Stillwater is home for now,

Most oil field companies around here want 6mo to a year tractor trailer exp. Seaboard is hiring over in Hennessy and supposedly I'm going to be called for an interview. My current goal is to get experience pulling van or reefer then move into tanker either gas stations or jet-a. Those will get me home every night and that's my long term goal with truck driving.

    x1Heavy and Lepton1 Thank this.

I have been talking to Magnum and they are still doing a BG check on me but they are near the top of the list if Seaboard doesn't come through.

I'm not familiar with the oil field opportunities out of Stillwater. In my opinion your plan is a very good one. It's a benefit for your future to have OTR experience in order to snag a good local job.

I run flatbed out of OKC. I got this gig in 2015 based on a tad over two years running OTR with a clean record. You can get a great local job with a clean record OTR. I wish you the best of luck, based on the idea that LUCK is planned success.
