Pizza drivers get tips because they are low wage employees. Would you like your wage reduced to minimum wage so you can get tips?

Also they usually use their own cars and gas. You up for that too?

I had a guy come out to replace my windshield last week and I gave him a tip. You should tip people who come out to your house.
WrongWay30 Thanks this. -
Blackshack46 and buddyd157 Thank this.

I try to be very polite. It is supposed to be curbside delivery. I make the extra effort to drag this heavy freight into their garages. Should I just leave this freight on the curbside at the street and say sorry my company will charge you an extra $100 something dollars for inside delivery?

I ought to add, when I was working LTL, I got tips from about 4 customers over an 18 year stint with the company I was with. And that was only because the customer was absolutely insistent on me getting the tip. I always refused the tips when offered because I was doing my job and getting paid well enough to do it.

And somewhere there is a young man wheeling out groceries to neulabass's car... and wondering why he didnt get a tip......
right along with the garbage man....
the cable guy......
the plumber....
the guy that delivered that 500 lb freezer....
the list goes on & on.
Do you tip everyone that does something for you? I doubt it... especially if its not traditionally expected by you or the person providing the service.
Here's my thing with this.
I tip wait staff.... IF they provide service over & beyond what anyone else would typically do. Being a southern boy, drink a LOT of tea. If my wait staff fills my tea or brings me an extra glass or brings me a pitcher of tea, he automatically gets 15%. Other services he provides above & beyond his normal duties, the tip goes up from there. If he just brings my food & comes back to bring my ticket, I got no service, so he gets no tip. And if she provides a little cleavage etc, the tip went up. I can go to Sonic & get a burger, but all they do is skate out, bring my food & take my money. That's what she is paid to do... anything extra, she gets a tip.
I think you get my point. So my question is, what extra services... over & above your job... or above what someone else would have done in that same situation, did you do for the customer that wasn't expected? -
I’m forgetting something here, I have more to add... it’ll come back to me in a minute. -
I tip when I get something for my money. I tip my mechanic because he will get my truck first. I tip my trash man because he brings my trash can back to my house. I tip my UPS driver because he puts my packages over my fence. I tip the pizza man because he leaves the store with multiple orders and I want mine first.
