The regulations vary by jurisdiction. Only the rules for your jurisdiction apply to you. If you are following the rules there is no need to Sk the neighbors permission.

I never thought having my truck (a work vehicle, and evidence that I work for a living) parked in my driveway would make my neighborhood look like a "slum". Neither have any of my neighbors, none of whom have any issues with me parking my truck either in my driveway, or my neighbor's when my driveway is too swampy to support the truck.

Thanks, though, for providing your true views on truckers. Really appreciate it.:biggrin_25510:

Zoning laws have been around for a very long time, usually to help communities. Miller, IN, 42 yrs ago, declared non-tagged vehicles as not being allowed anywhere on your property or street and were subject to being towed at your expense. Mobile homes were not allowed except by permit while a house was being built in the Burns Harbor area way back in the 50's. Crown Point rural area had land restricted to home building to a 10 acre plot, this was due to the fact of a very bad percolation rate of septics put in.

I hope you and the others can find a place to park, but I really doubt if you will get the zoning overturned that easily, but you never know unless you try. I hope it really ticks the lady off till October though.

Yeah the cops come and threaten to tow my van all the time even though its tagged and insured because I am never home to drive it. Heck once the tagged the van and car but nit the pickup in between them where does that make since. Had to have driven the car to have moved the truck but it gets parked in the same place.
oh well when I get in I just start em up turn them around and no trouble for a few months. But I dare them to tow one as the ordinance says inoperable or not upto date tags.

its all about property values and big rigs parked in residential can bring down property values...what if there were say, twenty five or even fifty other trucks parked in your neighborhood. Soon people will have their trucks in pieces all over the yard...I know I'm exaggerating but perhaps you see my point...

Your neighbor filed the complaint because he wanted to avoid a confrontation, I'm sure you can understand that, perhaps not. In any case the ordinance/zoning law was in place when you moved in. The smart and polite thing would have been to ask first...just saying, you know, treat others as you would have them treat you...

commercial vehicles are not allowed where i live, iv never even drove a truck to my house to take bags in or out. but i am going threw some fun right now, where they have been cracking down on some of the neighbors to clean things up a bit, witch has started a big finger pointing contest. but whatever i just keep my mouth shut and if a complaint comes my way i just take care of it.

All my neighbors are old retired folks and understand have no problem with the truck now when I had first got the box trailer they did ask if i might move it and I told them i planed on it as soon as the ground is hard enough to move to a friends house it would be gone they just said ok thanks and that was it two weeks later it was moved.
I will not let someone tell me I can't have my property on my property but if its possible I will respect them enough to move things but with the kids wife and all half the time my truck is my only transportation and I wont be stranded.

Nobody talks anymore...and most neighborhoods aren't filled with neighborly people...everyone is so caught up in their own lives that they never notice something until it annoys them...I long for the good ol' days...before I was born of course.
