Get bobtail insurance and then get a "hunters permit". I did it when I got the truck I'm in.

How did you get the truck to their yard to get the plates put on it and Qualcomm installed when you started?
Chris50 Thanks this. -
How did you get there to lease to them ?
You get what is called a hunters permit .
You should have all the insurance you need unless you bought your collision and bobtail from the company you leased to .
If you belong to OOIDA just call them and they will tell you and sell you all you need -
what happens if one if their bonehead techs damages your truck while trying to remove the Qualcomm? That's you trying to argue with your former employer on their turf, and your word against theirs.
Btw, do you have a new gig lined up? Does the new company use Qualcomm?Chris50 Thanks this. -
Get a temp tag and bobtail insurance. This is why I still say drivers need to buy their own plates and just have their own bobtail and physical damage on their tractors when they're leased. Least then you're not getting screwed on a plate, and all you have to do when you resign is remove the decals and their qualcrap and you're on your way home. That'd be my suggestion you can get a temp from your DMV in your base state and a yearly plate runs about $1500 for a year some states prorate them others do not just depends on the state.

I bought the truck from the same carrier I was a company driver at so the truck was waiting for me at the terminal. All the insurance is/was through same carrier. I have the title. Yes I have a new gig and they also use qualcomm. I will check on the hunters permit, seems to be the prevalent answer. Thanks again to all of you, much appreciated.

You CAN get a temp tag from your state dmv. I did it when I had no tag or anything and they gave me a 10 day tag to drive to milwaukee from charlotte .I had no numbers on the side of my truck either...

BTW, you can do that AS LONG as you are not pulling a trailer .
