Most companies that do log audits, one of the Basic things they check for. Make sure fuel is correct time and it's supposed to be on duty.
Rest breaks

On elogs, I can log 5 minutes "on duty fuel" then quickly change over to off duty to expedite my 30 completion. Those are some "fast pumps and no waiting". I am NOT going to burn up my 70 sitting in the back of fuel lines or waiting for some nimrod(s) to get all their ducks in a row before they pull up/out.

After reading all the replies, I know I would never make it as a company driver.

Something to remember is that every time you stop you usually lose a minimum of about 45 minutes. Its good idea to try to mix stops together, I.E fueling, walking around, load check, lunch. Otherwise you end up losing a lot of time at the end of the day.
Once you have been on the road awhile you get an idea of favorite places to stop, makes it easier when you have goals of where you want to be in X amount of time. -
You want to stop and smell the roses, and he wants to ease on down the road. I would have to agree with your trainer. Fiddle farting around should be done on the 10 hour break.
"But Six, when I'm on my 10, he's driving...how can I stop and smell the roses when he's driving?"
Finish out your time with your trainer, get a solo gig, and take all the breaks you want. Let me warn you...don't ever try to be a trainer yourself if you have to stop and smell the roses.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I go to the bathroom, walk my dog and make a sandwich and still have ten minutes left on my 30 (usually). I like to spend that time angrily gripping the steering wheel and screaming.
Sneakerfix, ncmickey, kynsilok and 1 other person Thank this. -
TripleSix maybe i didnt explain it well enougj. He wanted me to log off duty the moment i pulled into fuel stop. Gas up, pull forward, go in and handle buisness then the 30 is up. /wink. Im not talking about smellin roses. Im taljing avout draining the vein, grabbing some go juice, and taking a walk. That 30 goes quick. Im not asking for anything extra ir special there. As a trainer. If you allow your student his 30 your still gonna be msking good change. Also personally if i wssa trainer i wouldnt want a noob behind the wheel 11 hrs without some break. Im sure that people become accostomed to the lifestyle, but not overnight.
His last student fell ssleep at the wheelon the last day on the truck. Wasnt under curfew anymore. Im assuming he just toughed it out with this trainer mentality. Trainer still out msking money while ex student has to explain falling asleep at wheel to next employer. -
You have to log on duty to fuel, well unless he's showing fuel, which would be stupid, because it would mess his 10 up. Required to show fueling ON DUTY. Every other thing you mentioned is personal preference.
How much longer do you have in the truck? -
Halfway done with training. Getting dropped off at a terminal once we finish our load. Need different trainer. Dont want to go off topic here. Once I finish training ill come back amd post under "Bad trainer stories". lol. I could write a short book
